The award will be given to those who make a positive impact on the community

Blizzard Entertainment

The loss of Overwatch legend, professional player and coach, Dennis “INTERNETHULK” Hawelka is one that has already been felt throughout the competitive Overwatch community. On November 11, just a few days after his passing, members of the community gathered together for the Hulktastic Cup, a tournament held as a celebration of his life.

Now, Blizzard too is commemorating Hawelka, with The Dennis Hawelka Award. An honor to be given out at the end of each Overwatch League season to the player that has had the most positive impact on the community. The award was announced by Blizzard Wednesday along with a brief statement of Hawelka’s impact on Overwatch and its community.

From all of us here at the Overwatch League and Blizzard Entertainment, we send our deepest condolences to Dennis’ loved ones. His intelligence, generosity and friendship will never be forgotten.

Blizzard will also add a small memorial to Hawelka in game, on the map Eichenwalde where a poster with the words Crusaders Stand Guard, alongside a small candle.
