Official Overwatch League team skins are coming to the game in 2018

You can play with the very same skins as your favorite Overwatch League players.

UPDATE: Skins are now live in game and can be purchased by selecting the “esports” tab in the shop.

Blizzard first introduced the concept of special skins for competitive teams with the Overwatch World Cup at Blizzcon 2017 and gave fans a brief preview of what these skins will looks like for Overwatch League. On Monday, the company officially announced, via a short video, that each Overwatch League team’s home jersey skin will be available for players to buy in 2018.

According to Overwatch League Commissioner, Nate Nanzer the skins will be available for every team on all 26 Overwatch heroes. The skins will be purchasable via a brand new currency for the game called, Overwatch League Tokens. Once the skins have launched in early 2018, each Overwatch player — on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC — will be given enough Overwatch League Tokens to purchase their first skin. The tokens will only be used to buy special team branded content in the game, meaning that more than just team jersey’s could be on the way in the future.

Nanzer also mentioned that, like traditional sports, the sale of each of these skins will go, in part, to the team to help them grow. So, with every skin they buy, fans can know that they are directly supporting their favorite team, both in game and out.
