The second week of Blizzard’s Overwatch Contenders competition — the EU open bracket — has come to an end. Here are the 16 teams that will be competing in the Group Stage.
The weekend didn’t quite include the shocks that North America offered during its Open Qualifier, with a majority of the qualifying teams looking pretty familiar to those that have watched European Overwatch competitions in the past.
eUnited made short work of just about everyone on their way to first place showing, once again, why they are one of the game’s premier teams. Meanwhile, the up-and-coming Misfits roster, coming off a disappointing performance at the TakeOver2 tournament, had a fairly strong showing, falling only to TakeOver2 runner-up eUnited.
Meanwhile, European esports stalwart Ninjas in Pyjamas had a very disappointing performance, struggling to even make it out of the bracket stage on the second day before falling in their first playoff match against GamersOrigin.
Each of these teams will compete in the Group Stage over the next two weekends as they attempt to earn a spot in the Overwatch Contenders’ Playoffs. For all the information on the tournament’s format check out our overview here.
