Doomfist is finally here, after over a year of teasing. We saw his gauntlet in the museum, we escorted that gauntlet through Numbani, we listened to Reaper grouse that Doomfist had to do his own dirty work, and now he’s finally here. Doomfist’s even scarier in-game than we could have imagined, with a kit dedicated to relentlessly chasing down heroes and punching them in creative, innovative ways.
Doomfist is an offensive hero, and a tough one at that, who can go toe to toe with every hero on the roster. His most iconic ability will be his alternate fire, Rocket Punch, which winds up as you hold alt-fire down, goes through Reinhardt and Orisa shields, and deals extra damage if the target hits a wall.
We’re also in love with his Rising Uppercut, which springs Doomfist into the air, uppercutting enemies in front of him and knocking them up along with him. Rising Uppercut is going to pair very well with Seismic Slam, as it gives him enough altitude to trigger the reticle and enable him to slam down on his foes. The dude is strong enough to launch off the screen entirely, which is commendable. He clearly doesn’t skip leg day.
We also know why he’s so strong, thanks to a healthy dose of lore in his announcement animation and the Developer update.
We have the details on Doomfist’s kit, and how his basic abilities work, so you’ll be ready to pick him up when he eventually hits live.
Doomfist fires a short-range burst from the knuckles of his fist. Its ammunition is automatically regenerated over a short time.
When Doomfist is in the air or has altitude over his enemies, Doomfist leaps forward and smashes into the ground, knocking nearby enemies toward him.
