Chateau Guillard is the latest Overwatch map to arrive with the new Deathmatch mode, and you may know its occupant very well. This is Amelie Lacroix’s ancestral home, and she has returned to make it her base of operations. The new map is full of some fun things like jump pads and chokepoints to ambush your enemies in, but it’s also chock full of lore. Let’s dive in and uncover the secrets that Widowmaker has left behind in her family’s estate.
It seems like spawns are random in Chateau Guillard, with no set ‘spawn points’, unlike maps like Necropolis or Castillo. If you spawn outside, the first thing you’ll notice is the view over a lake, with a forest and village just out of sight. Chateau Guillard is easily Overwatch’s most beautiful map.

As you turn from this view, you’ll enter a courtyard, where a marble statue awaits you.

The courtyard is going to be an excellent place to brawl. As you can see, there are raised platforms, and just out of sight is a jump pad. There are three entrances to the manor proper from here: the first arch straight ahead behind the statue, and two side entrances on other side of the raised walkway.

When you enter the main hall, you can see that Widowmaker has been renovating. The walls are being painted a rich blue. Interestingly enough, there are only two rooms in Chateau Guillard that have bright, beautiful colored walls. This is the first. It has a thick haze of smoke inside.

Huge swathes of Chateau Guillard are nearly abandoned. This was clearly a place of culture and class, but it’s slowly falling into disrepair. Widowmaker has simply thrown cloths over most of the furniture, and some paintings are askew. Others have been taken down entirely. She’s not hosting company, I guess.
There are a couple of trophies around, perched on boxes. Prizes from her ballet days?

She may not be partying, but she has helped herself to the contents of the wine cellars. Some boxes have been opened, with stray bottles strewn about. Oh, Amelie.

However, there is a cozy corner with a good book, two chairs and... two glasses? Has Widowmaker been hosting a Talon associate?
Heading up from the basement brings you to Widowmaker’s breakfast nook, with her coat of arms hanging over a fireplace. It’s moderately extra.

Amelie eats breakfast alone, while reading the news.

From here, you can take a quick jaunt through part of the courtyard, with autumn foliage climbing up white marble walls. This place would go for an ludicrous price on House Hunters, Amelie, consider it.

Finally, we find ourselves in Widowmaker’s office, where she does the logistics work of being a world class assassin. And sure, she enjoys some wine while doing it. Why not?
This is the second colored room, painted a bright and vivid red. The walls are also slightly stained, along with the blue hall. It seems like a visual metaphor, and a graduation of Widowmaker from Amelie Guillard’s past. There’s another cloud of smog that floats in here.

There are crates of equipment, a laptop, her weapons case, and she keeps the gun itself propped up next to her while she works. I don’t think that’s psychologically healthy. Speaking of worrying props...

Yep, that’s her wedding photo with Gerard.
There’s a prop of a solar panel device near her desk. A communications radar, maybe? While we’re not sure exactly what it is, a larger scale one perches on the roof of Chateau Guillard.

Finally, we get a hint of what Widowmaker might be up to next.

The plane tickets are made out to a Danielle Guillard—safe bet is that’s Widowmaker’s civilian alias.
The laptop has a letter addressed to that identity:
Hello, Ms. Guillard.
We are confirming a limousine will meet you at the Nice Cote d’Azur airport at 21 h 30.
The trip from Nice to Monaco will take approximately 30 minutes.
You can, of course, change the reservation at your convenience.
We remain at your disposal for any other request.
Wait. She’s leaving the Cote d’Azur? Why does that sound familiar...

Okay, this skin probably isn’t strictly canon, but if anyone deserves a vacation for some fun in the sun, it’s Widowmaker.
Chateau Guillard hit the PTR today, and will release along with a new Deathmatch mode Arcade battle.
