Mercy and Junkrat have both been the recipient of big changes, with Junkrat receiving twice as many mines to toss out and Mercy getting her rework and Valkyrie ultimate. Despite Mercy losing her multi-man rez, she’s still dominating the skies as the primary support in competitive Overwatch. Junkrat’s buff also propelled him into being a major damage threat. Diehard players have been complaining about these characters, and today’s PTR patch is meant to bring them into line.
While the actual notes have yet to go live, the PTR is live for testing, where the following changes can be discerned:
Junkrat
Junkrat’s burst damage is being hit, with damage scaling on his Concussive Mines being dependent on its distance to the target now. He still has access to burst, but the damage falls off when players miss their mark.
Mercy
Mercy is the recipient of many more nerfs. Valkyrie has been called a “healthier” ultimate than her mass resurrect, but it turns Mercy into a small hit-box, quickly rezzing, quickly moving monster. These nerfs are meant to make her more manageable, and give enemies windows to eliminate her.
Valkyrie
No longer makes Resurrect instant
No longer grants a bonus charge of Resurrect
The speed boost that Guardian Angel receives has been decreased by 50%
Duration reduced from 20 seconds to 15 seconds
As always, PTR changes are always subject to change, and we might see further changes to both of these characters. The full notes can be found on the official Blizzard forums.
