The Overwatch League’s first stage has come to an end, and while teams are on a break until Stage Two begins on Feb. 21, Blizzard is hard at work improving the league between stages.
In an announcement posted on Wednesday afternoon, Blizzard announced that they would be altering several aspects of the Overwatch League schedule ahead of Stage Two. The first change, which should come as no surprise to fans that stuck around for the Stage One Finals is that Stage Playoffs will now take place on Sunday rather than after regularly scheduled games on Saturday as they were for Stage One. This is to prevent the almost 12 hour day that ended the league’s first stage. Blizzard will also offer tickets to the Sunday Finals for any fans that have already purchased tickets for the final Saturday of Stage Two.
Also changing for the next stage are the start time of each of the Overwatch League’s days of competition. Starting with the first week, weekday matches will now start at 7:00 p.m. EST while Saturday’s matches will now be starting at 4:00 p.m. EST.
According to Blizzard these changes are part of their ongoing effort to accommodate feedback from fans to help improve the viewing experience for the Overwatch League.
