Season 8 of competitive Overwatch is set to end February 25th

It’s the end of another competitive season, which means we get lots of points towards our golden weapons!

Blizzard Entertainment

It’s been quite a season, hasn’t it? The last two months hosted the Great Mercy Nerf Debate and the age of Junkrat. It seems as though Season 8 has lasted forever, but the end of it is coming to a close. The season is set to officially end on Sunday, February 25 at 4:00 p.m. PT. After this date, there’ll be a three day break for players to stretch their wrists, spend their Competitive Points, and get the salt out of their system. Season 9 will begin on Wednesday, February 28 at 4:00 p.m. PT.

As always, the end of a season comes with some special rewards. Players who completed their placement matches will receive a spray and player icon, with Top 500 players scoring a special icon and animated spray in addition. If you’re the sort of player who is interested in collecting golden weapons, you’ll receive a payout of Competitive Points based on your maximum skill rating during Season 8.

SR 1-1499 (Bronze): 65 CP

SR 1500-1999 (Silver): 125 CP

SR 2000-2499 (Gold): 250 CP

SR 2500-2999 (Platinum): 500 CP

SR 3000-3499 (Diamond): 750 CP

SR 3500-3999 (Master): 1200 CP

SR 4000-5000 (Grandmaster): 1750 CP

The transition between Season 8 and 9 will not impact the Year of the Dog competitive Capture the Flag bracket, so players are set to keep climbing those ranks. Best of luck with your frantic end of season games, and hopefully your placements are peaceful and appropriately challenging! At Heroes Never Die, we wish you an absence of insta-lock Hanzos and a surplus of healers. Best of luck!
