Brigitte is Overwatch’s newest hero and she will be joining the game’s current cast of supports, Blizzard announced today, via the Public Test Realm’s patch notes. Blizzard also released a short announcement video as well.
As Blizzard had previously teased, Brigitte will use a flail and shield combination in combat and, according to her ability descriptions, be able to provide plenty of buffs to her teammates. As for her backstory, Brigitte is the daughter of Torbjörn and Reinhardt’s squire, giving her a deep connection to some of Overwatch’s oldest characters.
While we haven’t quite seen these abilities in action, we do have full descriptions for each one.
Brigitte’s melee weapon has an extended range, enabling her to strike multiple enemies with a single swing.
Brigitte throws a Repair Pack that can heal an ally. Any healing over that ally’s maximum health provides them with armor instead.
Brigitte throws her flail a long distance, dealing damage and knocking an enemy away from her.
Brigitte deploys a frontal energy barrier to absorb a limited amount of damage.
Once her Barrier Shield is deployed, Brigitte can dash forward to stun an enemy.
When Brigitte hits enemies with her flail, she also heals nearby allies over time.
Brigitte moves faster and provides all nearby allies with armor that lasts until it’s removed by damage.
While Brigitte may be a support in name, she seems likely to occupy a more hybrid role, with important parts of her kit revolving around shielding enemies, traditional healing, and combat healing.
Brigitte is available to test on Overwatch’s Public Test Realm now and should officially join the game’s roster after she has been tested for a few weeks.
